Why Framing Matters in Photography
A frame isn’t just a border—it’s part of the art. The right frame enhances your photo, complements its tones, and creates harmony with the space it lives in. Whether you’re displaying your work at home or at a market, framing is the finishing touch that makes your image stand out.
My Go-To Frame Styles
Perfect Frame for Your Photos
Over time, I’ve developed a signature style that feels true to my photography. Here’s what I use and why:
Black Frames
Sleek, modern, and bold—black frames are perfect for high-contrast shots and monochrome photography. They create a strong outline that makes the image pop, especially against light walls.

A sleek black frame makes my Canberra Balloon Festival photo truly stand out, highlighting the vibrant colors of the balloons and the golden glow of the museum bathed in sunlight.
White Frames
Clean and minimal, white frames work beautifully with bright, soft-toned photos. They blend seamlessly into modern interiors and let the photo speak for itself.

A crisp white frame beautifully complements the colors of my Tomakin sunrise photo, highlighting the warm glow of the sunrise, the serene river reflections, and the stillness of the water.
Canvas Wraps
Sometimes, a photo deserves more than a print. Canvas adds texture and depth, making landscapes or artistic shots feel immersive and tactile.

This canvas print, paired with a raw float wood frame, beautifully complements my Bawley Point beach photo. The natural tones of the frame echo the sandy hues in the image, creating harmony without distracting from the photograph itself
Hendrix Brown Frames
My personal favorite for earthy tones and vintage-inspired images. The Hendrix frame has a warm, rustic character that pairs perfectly with natural subjects and cozy spaces.

The Hendrix frame perfectly enhances the sepia tones of my Bungendore Railway Station photo, adding warmth and character without overpowering the image.
How I Decide Which Frame to Use
Every photo has its own personality. Here’s what I consider:
· Mood of the Image – Is it bold and dramatic or soft and serene?
· Color Palette – Dark tones often call for black frames, while light tones shine in white.
· Where It Will Hang – A modern home might suit black or white, while a country-style space loves Hendrix.
· Texture & Depth – If the photo feels like art, canvas is my go-to.
Tips for Choosing Frames
If you’re framing your own photos:
· Match the frame to the dominant tones in the image.
· Use black for drama, white for simplicity, and wood for warmth.
· Don’t be afraid to experiment—sometimes the unexpected choice is the best one.
