Yesterday’s giraffe encounter at the Mogo Zoo Zoom Tour 🦒
Fun fact: their tongues can be up to 50cm long (and dark to stop sunburn), they can see almost 360° to spot predators up to 1km away, and those legs… they can kick forwards sideways and backwards....

Absolutely incredible animals ✨

Photography can be such a solo thing…
Back in June 2024, I drove all the way out to the end of Namadgi National Park. As a female, no service, hiking alone… it can be a little nerve-racking.
I made it out to Brayshaws Hut and there were quite a few people around, which helped. But once I started tracking towards Westermans Homestead, I went the opposite way to everyone else… and suddenly I was alone again.
On the walk in, I had this feeling something was watching me. I kept looking around but could only see kangaroos. I told myself I was probably overthinking it and kept going.
It wasn’t until I was heading back that I put the drone up to have a look… nothing obvious. But then I saw the footprints — not mine. Dingos.
Strangely, once I knew what it was, I felt calm.
Honestly… I’d still rather come across a dingo than a random man sitting in the bushes 🤷🏼‍♀️
And in the end, I walked away with two beautiful photos of the huts — the kind I know I’ll be so glad I went out there alone to capture.
